Kathy Matthews
Vocals, keys

Kathy, who first displayed a talent for singing at the tender age of six, began her musical career at 18, singing and playing guitar and keyboards with groups in her hometown of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. An interest in recording her own music took her to New York where she not only gained valuable recording experience at such studios as "Record Plant" and "Electric Lady," but also studied dance under well-known "Footloose" and American Ballet Theatre choreographer, Lynn Taylor Corbett.

After moving back to the central Pennsylvania area, she secured a spot with local recording artists "Maxwell," with whom she recorded an album of original music. This enormously popular group was the opening act for recording artists Tom Browne and The Spinners and themselves had a number one hit ("Radiation Funk") in the central Pennsylvania area.

In 1990, Kathy moved to Philadelphia and began working with the eight-piece funk band "Half Moon" who shared the stage with such notables as LTD, Millie Jackson, GQ and Breakwater.

The band eventually became "Silver Screen," a gathering of talented and high-energy performers who toured the eastern U.S. and Canada. In 1993, the band spent three months at the Encore Supper club in Osaka, Japan where they learned that good music is still the universal language.

Kathy brings a wealth of talent, experience and love of music to her job with City Lights Orchestra.  In addition to being an excellent performer, she is also the "master of ceremonies" for the group and coordinates all the wedding reception activities.
