Scott Murdock
Sax

Native Philadelphian, Scott Murdock, is a musician with diverse musical tastes and talents who enjoys all genres of music including classical, jazz, funk and rock and roll. Although he is one of the youngest members of City Lights Orchestra, he is a serious musician who has studied and become accomplished on various instruments including saxophone, clarinet, and flute.

According to Scott, his enormous love of music and his decision to pursue it as a career began as a young boy when he found his dad's old clarinet in the closet. This discovery sparked his interest in the instrument, which he studied all through junior and senior high school. By his senior year, he was participating in music festivals at the state level on clarinet and had also begun to study saxophone.

Today, Scott majors in jazz studies and saxophone performance at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and plans to begin working on his master's degree in music education this summer. In addition to saxophone, he enjoys doubling on clarinet and flute and polishes his chops in musicals and other performances held at the University of the Arts. Somehow, he also manages to find time to share his talents with City Lights Orchestra, and has performed with the group in and around the Philadelphia, Atlantic City, New York and Washington areas. Everyone agrees that Scott is a great addition to the band.

Scott is a serious musician who is constantly trying to expand his musical horizons in an attempt to communicate his thoughts and emotions to others through music. In addition to performing, he enjoys writing his own music and arranging and orchestrating other works.
