Vance McGhee
Musical Director, vocals, keys, trombone

Vance is a multi-faceted musician, writer and performer who combines a powerful, richly textured tenor with a compelling stage aura. Since graduating from Philadelphia's Granoff Music School in 1986, he has impressed and excited audiences with his vocal and instrumental talents. He has also spent the past ten years honing his writing, producing and arranging skills on various recording projects around the Philadelphia area. In 1994 he was commissioned to write and produce "The Philly Song," to be used for a promotional campaign for the City of Philadelphia.

Vance has toured the U.S. and Canada as lead vocalist and part of the tightly-meshed four-piece brass section for Philadelphia-based recording group "Half Moon"; voted #1 club band in Canada for three consecutive years. The group performed in concert with such notable recording artists as GQ, Breakwater, Millie Jackson, and LTD.

From 1990 to the present, Vance has covered a lot of ground with his own group, "City Lights Orchestra" (formerly "Silver Screen"). The band has been in demand in the Philadelphia area and Atlantic City for the past few years and played to enthusiastic crowds during a 1993 tour of Japan. There the group gained recognition for their dynamic sound and tightly choreographed shows.

Vance lists Earth, Wind & Fire, Tower of Power, Luther Vandross, and Peabo Bryson as his major musical influences.
